I was exploring Cabbagetown neighborhood during my visit in Toronto and I discovered Johnny G's Cafe in Cabbagetown. What a pleasant surprise! It's a cozy place with a very friendly and accommodating staff. I'm following a fitness meal plan and it's very important for me to have a wholesome meal that prepared with fresh ingredients. The menu has vegetarian options and proteins ( eggs, sausages ) as well. My brunch was super delicious! Definitely, I will be back when I will be traveling to Toronto again. Thank you for the great service!
If you're looking for a top-notch brunch, this is the place to be. Their Egg Benedict was a standout—perfectly poached eggs over a buttery English muffin. The salmon was equally impressive. The dish was light yet satisfying, and the service was warm and attentive. A must-try for anyone craving a refined yet comforting brunch experience!
Johnny G’s Cafe by the Chef is a hidden gem in Cabbagetown! The customer service was exceptional, and the chef truly knows his craft—every dish we tried was perfect. We had Chicken Biryani, Tandoori Chicken Legs, Garlic Naan with Butter Chicken, and Samosa Chaat—all bursting with authentic flavors. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The candlelight dinner added to the warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a fantastic spot for both casual outings and special occasions. I’ll definitely be back—highly recommend this place!
A truly underrated gem of a restaurant. I first discovered it during the Cabbagetown Festival, where I was completely captivated by their butter chicken. Unlike the usual salty, savoury versions, this one had a slightly sour twist that made it uniquely delicious; and it totally stole my heart. I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I later returned for dinner of course for the butter chicken again. I was delighted not just by the food, but by the warm, kind service. The waitress was incredibly friendly, and the tiny complimentary desserts were both unique and tasty. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and even the chef came across as genuinely nice - everything about the place felt welcoming. Everything was so good that before my last day in Toronto, I decided to visit the restaurant one last time, and this time with my friend. Once again, I had the butter chicken (haha) - this time with naan - and it was fabulous. Honestly, some of the best naan I’ve ever had. Soft, tender, and packed with that perfect garlicky flavor. This time, we were served by another amazing server, Sana (if I remember correctly), who was super sweet and friendly. He even took the time to introduce us to different food cultures, which made the whole experience even more special and memorable. I’m so, so, so glad that I found this place, and it’s one of those rare spots that just makes you feel good - heart, belly, and all. if I ever return to Toronto (or Canada!), this restaurant will be at the top of my list.
This is a hidden gem. It might looked closed but it is open and their Indian food is far better than most in Toronto. We had all chicken dishes however I would order them all over and over again. Such a delicious experience.
The staff are so friendly and attentive! I regularly order to go but this time, we tried dining in and we were not disappointed! The food tastes great and the service is amazing. Such a gem in this neighbourhood!
